We're excited to have you join us for online classes with Deep Roots Dance, LIVE! Here's some tips for making the most of your livestream dance learning experience:
What you will need:
Please make sure you set up and test your Zoom app before your first class, so you are familiar with the controls. The Zoom website has some basic tutorials, but primarily you'll want to know how to join a meeting, mute and unmute, and type in chat/emote.
Students will enter a virtual waiting room, and will be admitted to the Zoom classroom with their video on but sound muted.
Students are invited to unmute themselves when wanting to ask a question or when the instructor asks for feedback or commentary, but please re-mute yourself afterward, to avoid excessive intrusive noise when the instructor is teaching.
What you will need:
- a reliable internet connection
- the free Zoom app and be logged in under the name you registered for this class
- a computer, iOS or Android tablet or phone

- a space clear of obstruction, ideally smooth surface or low-pile carpet
- your electronic device at eye level where you can see and hear your instructor clearly
- clothes you can easily move in
To receive feedback from the instructor:
- set up your device in a well-lit space, and make sure the camera pointed at you faces as a neutral backdrop as possible, like a blank wall or curtain
- choose clothes which don't obscure your form too much--a fitted shirt or tank top, leggings or yoga pants, and a hip scarf are ideal.
